My partner and i visited panana city, specificaly to see the canal. Colon itself is a thriving city, very run down and likely dangerous after dark. We arrived after pm which is the check in time. The front desk girl told us that they had problems with the air conditioning unit. I asked when it will be repaired and she did not answered me. I asked to speak to the manager and she went inside the office but the manager never came. She told us they would show one room to see if the temperature was ok.
After waiting for approximately 45 minutes they showed us a show which smelled to tobacco, prostitutes and humidity. It was absolutely gross. I felt sick. I told the bellboy why it smelled to cigarette since it was a nonsmoking room and he told me guest did not comply.
We went back to the lobby and after waiting 30 minutes they showed us another room which was not as bad and since my wife was sick we decide to stay for that night. We had reservations for 2 rooms so we waited for 45 minutes for the housekeeping to prepare the second room. I was about to have a nervous breakdown and was about to lose my calm and give the manager a piece of my mind but I decided to calm down.
That night was a complete nightmare. The bed skirt was really old, dusty and dirty. The air conditioner barely worked and the bed mattress was really old and uncomfortable since it curved in the middle.
The floor was horrible. We did not sleep all night. The halls were dark since many light bulbs are burned. It seemed like a haunted house. Since the decoration is colonial, there are many statues and painting, which are full of dust. The elevators are tiny and did not work all the time.
