Babes is a small neighborhood type bar in downtown Havana. We drove over miles for Sunday lunch. Well worth the drive. The fried chicken, Reuben, and homemade chips were fantastic. The service top notch. If we are ever in the area again we will stop in. I had a Dave Burger and it was over the top delicious and it was served with home made chips. My wife wanted a BLT and even though it was not on the menu they made one for her. Service was excellent. We've always enjoyed Babes In Havana.
We're always greeted with a smile and a "Hi". The food is hot and the beer is cold. You can't go wrong when you walk in the door. Large selection of draft beers. We choice this place to come for lunch based on excellent reviews.
We arrived as a group of 7 before the lunch crowd and were greeted and seated immediately. Apparently they must have been short handed which caused our server to be somewhat short with us. We were not rude to her but she was not quite that happy we were there. It was a bittersweet lunch but the food was good.
Which the management had helped her out or maybe that's just her personality. I felt like we were an inconvenience and we were bothering her. We also had to ask for things and her answer were very short like she was upset at the world. I understand we have our bad days but please don't take it out on me. We were on a cross-country trip and ended up in Havana following Google Map's instructions. Havana is a neat little town with brick paved streets in its historic downtown area.
Babe's is a great little restaurant with really good comfort food and an unpretentious but appealing facade and interior. I had the catfish fillet with sweet potato casserole. Both were superb. Service was very good. Only minor criticism was that I ordered the fillet grilled and got it breaded instead. I ate it anyway and it was delicious. If we're ever in Havana again, this will be our meal stop. Own or manage this property?
