Ive got about ten weeks or so to spend in Bahrain, working normal office hours etc. Any five a side football places, judo classes, shisha lounges, bus shelters or pubs where most younger people go? I have only been to bars with 50 yr old men and young chinese prostitutes, would like a more wholesome place! Ten weeks! Other than bars, unfortunately, there's not much else to sightsee in Bahrain. Saudis and expats alike living in Saudi go over there every weekend for that exact purpose. Perhaps others can be more helpful.
I just thought of an idea. How about Lost Paradise? It's a water park. It's not very big when compared to some of the water parks in America, but it'll still help you beat the heat and kill a day or two. I highly recommend it. BTW, you'll find plenty of women your age Well its only for a couple of months then im going back to the UK, back to uni, can't wait. Not that im complaining about here, its very comfortable and easy as im just working in a nice office, not baking out in the desert heat im a surveyor so that does happen a lot.
Have you tried joining one of the expat clubs - the Brit Club has 5 a side football on a Wednesday night if i remember correctly - it also has a very friendly crowd with few chinese prostitutes Bahrain has a very active hash - the black rats which is another good place to meet people.
In terms of places to hang out, I don't know how well you know the island yet but in Adaliya very near to Discount Homestores by the roundabout there is a huge shisha bar - don;t remember the name but it is very freindly. Also in Adaliya thre is another shisha place next to the al jazirea supermarket on the main street, which is also good. To meet younger people you could also check out Club Seven downtown or the Cacoon Lounge in Juffair - both are places where younger people hang out and both are refreshingly lacking in prostitutes.
